Contest Orientation

We would like to welcome everyone to the 2009 Contest for 
Wildlife in Focus V.  This will be the best Contest yet!! Please get out there and take those great "Prize Winning" images.

Orientation will be held January 31, 2009 from 1:00pm - 5:00pm at the 
Garden Senior Center 
5325 Greeley
Corpus Christi, TX  78412

Our speakers for this event will be Larry Ditto a former Judge for the Coastal Bend Wildlife Photo Contest and Paul Denman a past Participant in the Coastal Bend Wildlife Photo Contest.

We will be handing out orientation packets which will include a copy of the rules, photographer identification numbers for judging, W-9 form, photographer release form, and new this year a listing of websites and field guides to help you in your category identifications.

This years Judges are going to be Kevin Vandivier, Sean Fitzgerald, and Kathy Adams Clark.

Judging will take place on the Welder Wildlife Refuge from July 27th thru Aug 1st.  Please remember you have 3 full weekends to work and prepare your images for submission.

Kritters 4 Kids

Kritters 4 Kids Environmental Education Program brings awareness to youth about the vastness and variety of habitat in the Coastal Bend.  The Wildlife in Focus books combined with a fun and educational curriculum guide will introduce students to native habitat and conservation issues.  The Kritters 4 Kids Environmental Education Program provides a set of 25 Wildlife in Focus books, a grade appropraite curriculum guide, teacher training and follow-up.  For a minimal sponsorship of $950 you too can be a Kritters 4 Kids Angel.

Photography Workshops

Learn from a Pro - don't forget your camera

Kent Savage is a native of Corpus Christi.  His interest in photography began with a high school course and has continued throughout his life focusing on surfing and nature photography.  Kent is one of very few photogrpahers who can say he has placed as a Grand Prize Winner in every Coastal Bend Wildlife Photo Contest.  His work has been published in all four volumes of Wildlife in Focus, making the back cover of volume II.

Kent will welcome you into these classes with a fun and energetic attitude.  So get ready to finally figure out that camera and have a great time doing it!

Basic Photography I
your camera dashboard, modes, formats, memory cards, transferring your pictures into the computer and composition
This class will be February 19th, 2009
6:30pm - 9:00pm

The Coastal Bend Wildlife Photo Contest received grants totaling $5,500 from the Starr Pope, Jr. Endowment Fund and the Ned & Carol Dewey Fund.

The grant was given to help purchase new computer equipment for our Kritters 4 Kids Environmental Education Program and for our Wildlife flashcards.
