LOTE - A
Coastal Bend Environmental Science Education Collaboration
|
Summer
Science Teacher Training
The
LOTE project is a collaboration of environmental programs
intertwined to provide a weeklong summer academy for elementary teachers.
By combining all of these resources into one program, the Learning on
the Edge (LOTE) summer academy, sponsored by The Coastal Bend Bays
& Estuaries Program, seeks to provide teachers the tools needed to
successfully teach science and promote student awareness of local ecology
and environmental issues affecting the bays and estuaries. The CBBEP is tasked with protecting,
restoring and enhancing the bays and estuaries of the Texas Coastal Bend.
Partnering with already successful educational programs of the Coastal
Bend Wildlife Photo Contest – Kritters 4 Kids, Texas A&M
University-Corpus Christi – Teaching Environmental Science, and the Texas
State Aquarium – Keepers of the Coast.
If you know any
elementary science teachers in the Coastal Bend area, share this
information with them about a week-long summer training program (free to
teachers).
