Wow - I had fun on my
birthday. October 4th was "Learning in the Field", a workshop
for science teachers organized by The Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries
Program. Twenty nine science teachers from all over the Coastal Bend Area
spent the morning at Packery Channel Park, participating in hands-on
lessons that they could take back to their classrooms to teach to their
students. The Texas State Aquarium, US Fish and Wildlife,Texas A & M
University and other organizations put on a fantastic training day for
teachers. I presented a learning module called"Create a Fresh Water
Ecosystem". That afternoon we went to Texas A&M University-CC
for an afternoon of creating lesson plans and sharing ideas with the
teachers.

Monarch Madness on The
Fennessey Ranch
|
October 26th was Monarch
Madness Day on the Fennessey Ranch. More than 300 students from seven
schools in the Coastal Bend Area participated in learning about our local
wildlife and habitats. The event was funded with a grant from the Texas
Learning Computation Center at the University of Houston. Kritters 4
Kids presented "Wildlife Trivia" and other agencies
participating included US Fish and Wildlife, Texas Parks and Wildlife,
and The Texas State Aquarium. The weather was perfect and everyone had a
great day!

The month of October just
flew by. Kritters 4 Kids presentations were made in Kingsville, Calallan,
Port O'Connor, Seadrift, Ben Bolt, and San Diego. Many thanks to our Angels
for Education who made those presentations possible.
Julie
Findley, Elementary teacher at Olson Elementary in Port Aransas writes
"Thank you for the great presentation and wonderful books. The
students and I are so excited!" After the Kritters 4 Kids
presentation at Olson Elementary, students wrote thank you notes and
included illustrations, too. We also received thank you notes from
students at Point Comfort Elementary School, thanking us for the
presentation we did there in September.
